Meet Joan
Meet Joan

My first blog interview is today, and I’m a bit overwhelmed by the experience!  I can’t ever remember being interviewed for anything other than a job.

I’m over at Joan Hall Writes visiting with Joan and answering her questions about my writing life.  Joan and I met online, and since that first meeting, we’ve been encouraging each other along in our mutual love of writing.  Here’s a short excerpt to tempt you.

* * *

When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer?

You know it’s hard to remember when that realization came alive.  My father was in printing and publishing, so printed matter was his life, and he shared his love of words with me.  My first absolute recognition of the power of writing came in the fourth grade when we were assigned to “write” book reports.  I worshipped my teacher, who also served as the school librarian.  When she returned my report with an A grade and a notation “good job,” I felt the affirmation and confidence I was continually seeking as a child from my mother.  This teacher stepped into my life and began to fill that void.  Together, perhaps my father and my teacher began rubbing the flint that would later become the spark of wanting to write.

Now, won’t you join Joan and me at her blog to read the rest?
