A few months ago Joe Bunting and Jeff Goins launched Story Cartel, “a site to help authors share their stories with readers.”
Joe and Jeff set out to build a community where writers and readers would come together to share the stories they write.
One benefit to being a part of the Story Cartel is the ability to receive free books in exchange for an honest review. I’ve just read my first book for Story Cartel and in the next day or two will be posting a review here.
I urge you as writers to visit the Story Cartel’s site to learn more about the sharing of stories and reviewing of books by other writers, the courses offered, and the many other opportunities Joe and Jeff will bring to the community in the future.

Hi Sherrey, Thank you for the heads up. I’ll definitely give it a go. I’ve already concluded that I’ll always be behind on blog reading and book reading and commenting and writing and answering emails and every other aspect of the Internet (and the rest of my life too for that matter). I’m going to be content anyway and just take one day at a time. I love all these opportunities.
Grace, I find this a great way to learn more about marketing as well as having an opportunity to read something of what’s being published. Books are offered for free as long as you agree to review honestly.
Thanks for this, Sherrey. I’ll definitely look into Story Cartel. And I agree with Kathy. There are so many sites and so many opportunities, it’s hard to draw the line. What ever happened to simplify?

I agree, Kathy — but, Jeff and Joe have a significant following; perhaps that might be an incentive? I, too, feel overwhelmed by all the options!

Sherrey, Story Cartel looks like an interesting and helpful site. But, I wonder, how many new sites should I join and what am I willing to give up? So many choices, and good ones. This one looks like a good choice for book promotion. Thanks for sharing.
Kathy, Story Cartel doesn’t require the level of participation other groups do. It gives you the change to learn from two very talented young men. And you have the opportunity to see what books are being published, mostly indie, and if you agree to review, you can receive a free copy. But I surely know what you mean about overwhelming!
HI Sherrey, I’m back to say , I took Joe’s Story Cartel Course ( thanks to your referral) despite feeling overwhelmed and tapped into a gold mine of resources and connections. I highly recommend it for all. You can decide your level of participation. For me, the benefits of being a part of the Story Cartel community have far outweighed the risk of taking on one more thing.
Kathy, although I haven’t taken the course and was only reviewing it from a book reviewer’s standpoint, I have heard nothing but good things about the course and am myself tempted by it. You have now added another layer to my temptation! Glad it was a good experience. 🙂
