Judy Garland, as Dorothy in the movie, The Wizard of Oz, uttered these words to her dog, Toto. And she clicked her ruby-red slippers together in hopes of returning home.
I had no ruby-red slippers today, but returning home felt oh so good. We’ve been away for almost three weeks due to a family member’s illness and death. Coming home was comforting.
I have missed writing and blogging, and over the course of the next few days I hope to get back up to speed. Processing our grief and returning to our normal pace will take a while yet.
But please hang in there with me — I’ve missed being among my writing friends.
Praying for you and your family right now, Sherrey!
Thanks, Holley. We know prayer works, and we can feel them.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Sherrey. The loss of someone dear to us is hard to deal with at any time. I can only imagine how it is made more difficult at this time of year. Take gentle care of yourself. Prayers being offered up for you and your family.
Hugs,
Linda
Linda, your kind words are appreciated. I liked the words “gentle care” in your message. I’ll do that! Thanks for your prayers — we know they work.
Welcome home. I am sorry for your grief – sending you peace.
Thanks for leaving your comforting words.
It’s always good to be home. I’m sorry for your loss.
Thank you, Jill.
Dear Sherrey, I am so sorry for our loss.My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of transition. I agree, there’s no place like home.Take the time you need. We will be here for you whenever you feel ready to re-enter. Do whatever it takes to take care of yourselves.Blessings and hugs,
Kathy
Dear Kathy, once again you have offered thoughts and prayers which, as we both believe, help at times like this. “Take the time you need” — I need to make this my mantra. It seems there is no way to write these days. My last writing effort was Jim’s obituary, my hardest writing project to date. Re-entry is a good word for coming back, isn’t it? Dear friend, thanks for the prayers and the wisdom of another writer. How can I ever repay your goodness to me in so many ways?
Blessings back to you,
Sherrey
Dear Sherrey, please take your time. Losing someone so close will take its toll on you, so please just relax a bit, allow yourself to grieve, and very gradually get back to your life again. And don’t worry if you fall back. Grief can act like that.I’ll be thinking of you and Bob and wish you peace and pleasure in your home again. For the same reason, I always find comfort back home. I totally agree, there is no place like home.
Love and hugs,
Madeline
Dear Madeline, your thoughts bring such comfort and obviously wisdom with them. I didn’t realize until today, our first full day home, how unready I am to face our normal, whatever that may be now. I seem to crash and burn easily. Thanks for helping set me on the right track of allowing grief to work its way through me and also helping Bob to do the same. You have become such a special friend during this time — there are no words to express it.
With love and gratitude,
Sherrey

I’m sorry to hear this, Sherrey, I didn’t know you had lost someone, too! I am still awash and not up to speed at all, and the holidays coming just makes it more overwhelming. Hugs.
Linda, I know you are still attempting to heal from your loss and your words really spoke to me — “I am still awash and not up to speed at all.” I completely understand! Sending hugs back to you.
