Should I or . . . Shouldn’t I?

That is the question.  Of course, your ability to lend help or advice depends on knowing the what of my “should I” or “shouldn’t I?”

The what is the 2013 Blogging From A to Z April Challenge.  Writers of all levels of experience have and will take part in this daily blogging post challenge.  If you’re not familiar with it, you can learn more here.

My quandary is this:

Do I really need another challenge in my life?

But this is a writing challenge.  What can it hurt to be challenged to be a little creative 26 days out of the month of April 2013?

Writing prompts are good exercise — definitely a positive.

The necessity of coming up with a topic, subject if you will, alphabetically for those 26 days appeals to my inner competitor.  And I love words.

What about you?  Have you ever participated in the A to Z challenge?  If so, would you share your thoughts about its worth, any inherent problems it created for you, or would you just call me crazy?

I’m waiting to hear from you . . . don’t everyone answer at once!

  1. I haven’t heard of this , Sherrey. I’m sure it will be a good discipline but you’re smart to consider the costs before making your decision. Oh, it looks like you made your decision… 🙂 Good luck. I hope it is fun and educational.

    1. Grace, the cost is zip — online and free. Just a means to an end of disciplining myself to write every day. I feel I need that practice, just as I did when mom and dad started me with piano lessons when I was 6. Then I had somebody else telling me what to do and didn’t have much choice in the matter! 🙂

  2. Hello I have done all the A to Z Challenges …..and yes it certainly is a challenge but fun too.I am Yvonne from Yvonnes Poetry Corner one of Arlee Birds ambassador’s to help and see how people are planning for the challenge. Good Luck I’m sure I will visit again when the Challenge is in progress.

    1. Yvonne, so nice to have you here. I’ve begun planning by pondering whether to go with a theme or to just let the alphabet roll forward and go with “whatever.” I want to get started drafting my posts so I don’t get caught not having something each day. That’s not cheating — that’s preparing!

  3. Do what I do with writing challenges: join in but set your own pace. If every day is too much, set your own goal for numbers of days per week to write. Sanity counts! Good luck! 🙂

    1. Cate, thanks for weighing in! I trust your judgment on lots of things. I’m enjoying ROW80, and I believe I’ve not been practicing my writing enough in a general way to keep my skills finetuned. Thus, the thought of A2Z. Like your “sanity counts!” 🙂

  4. Sounds interesting. Let me know if you decide to do it and I might join you – except there’s the April poem a day challenge going on then too. Too many opportunities – so little time. xo

    1. Madeline, thanks for stopping by. With the beautiful poetry you write, I can’t see you not doing the poem a day challenge. But, IF you want to do A2Z, I’ve decided to do it and signed up yesterday. Saw Juanima Hiatt’s name there too. xoxo
